From The Ground Up: Elevating Septic Standards and Practices

OOWA will hold our Annual Conference and Trade Show September 18-19, 2024 at the Muskogee Civic Center. This year's 2-day event features the annual trade show, various classes, and discussions in collaboration with the DEQ, NAWT, industry manufacturers, and our own OOWA Board.

We have several attendance options, as well as vendor and sponsorship opportunities to be posted soon! We hope to see you there!

CEU Credits are available for both water and wastewater licensing for water quality.

IMPORTANT CONFERENCE REGISTRATION INFORMATION

September 18th is designated exclusively for additional paid classes. These sessions are separate from the general conference and require an additional fee. Dive into our additional training classes for an opportunity to earn Continuing Education Credits. These classes are perfect for those looking to deepen their expertise and offer intensive training in specific areas of onsite wastewater management.

September 19th marks the official Conference Kick-Off. The day will begin with an inspiring keynote address, followed by a rich schedule of educational sessions and a vibrant trade show. This is included in your general conference registration.

Please Note: If you choose to join us for the training on September 18th, you will need to register for both the training day and the general conference day. If your interest is solely in the conference activities on September 19th, please register accordingly.

NAWT Inspector Class Schedule

8:00am–8:45am Introduction to OWTS 

  • This section introduces OWTS and the need for inspections and lays out the discussions for the remaining presentations

8:45am–9:30am Flow – System Use 

  • This section discusses what wastewater is, how it is created and how it is treated through an OWTS

BREAK

9:45am–10:45am Introduction to Tanks and Systems with Pumps

  • This section begins the discussion of the different components of an onsite system and delves into their purpose on the wastewater treatment train

10:45am–11:15am Special Topics

  • This section covers some of the “need to know” items that don’t neatly fit into the other discussions

11:15am–12:00pm Alternate Systems – What are the choices

  • This section discusses advanced treatment: when it is needed and how it works

LUNCH

12:30am–1:15pm Soil Treatment Areas 

  • This section discusses the importance of the soils as a component of an OWTS

1:30pm–2:15pm Introduction to the PLAN – the NAWT Inspection Protocol

  • This is the beginning of discussing the NAWT Protocol for inspection and introducing the steps that are taken to complete an OWTS Inspection

2:15pm–3:15pm Tank and Alternate Systems Inspections

  • This session discusses what the inspector will need to know about inspecting ATU’s, advanced treatment and proprietary units in the treatment train

BREAK

3:30pm–4:00pm Soil Treatment Area Inspections 

  • This session discusses evaluation of the STA and Final dispersal of OWTS

4:00pm–4:30pm The Paperwork 

  • This session covers filling out the paperwork for a NAWT Inspection and the importance of documentation and

EXAM

The exam is online – individuals will need access to a computer, iPad, or smart phone.
